"It’s a Different World – Envision your Future conference will feature highly interactive, hands-on professional career exploration and skills-based training designed to further STEM competency and expose boys and young men of color to careers of the future. This year’s conference will offer student, parent and service provider workshop series," (MBK Village, 2019).

MBK, namely My Brother's Keeper, was an initiative created by President Barack Obama in efforts to educate, empower, and uplift men of color across our country.

"President Obama launched My Brother’s Keeper in February 2014 to address persistent opportunity gaps facing boys and young men of color and to ensure all youth can reach their full potential. In 2015 the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (MBK Alliance) was launched, inspired by My Brother’s Keeper, to scale and sustain this mission. In late 2017, MBK Alliance became an initiative of the Obama Foundation. Within the Obama Foundation, MBK Alliance focuses on building safe and supportive communities for boys and young men of color where they feel valued and have clear pathways to opportunity," (MBK Alliance, 2019)

On October 19, 2019, McClendon will join Marcus Jackson, Columbus State Community College's Assistant Director of the Student Central Pathways program, Felicia Mitchell, I Know I Can's Director of College Funding, and officials from Huntington Bank, to discuss both traditional and non-traditional pathways to paying for college, student loan debt and ensuring students can maximize their ROI, lived learned experiences of managing the financial responsibilities associated with being a college student, financial literacy education, and SO MUCH MORE!! Stay tuned for the recap of the experience and more events as our Adventures continue!
